Program Description

In-town program for kids graduating from the U6 level and/or those new to the game. Primary goals at this level are basic skill instruction and expanded immersion into playing rules and in-game tactics. The ultimate objective for U8 is to get kids prepared for full field, more competitive play. Emphasis remains on teamwork, sportsmanship and instilling a passion for the game. Playing format is 5v5 on small fields with a goalies. Games at this level have certified referees. Emphasis on fun, fitness and basic skills.

The U8 In-Town program is divided into a Grade 1 division and a Grade 2 division.

Age Group

This program is for kids that will be in 1st or 2nd grade in Fall 2024.

Season Length

The Fall mini program will run 9/14/23 through 10/27/24. Specific game schedules to be distributed by program director nearer to the season. There are no practices at this level, just one game per week on the weekend on Sundays. Weekend sessions are divided to include a 30 minute practice session followed by a 40 minute game.

Play Locations

All U8 Mini games will be held at the Lincoln Street Fields.

Team Formations

Teams will range between 10 and 14 players. Playing format is 5v5 with a goalie. Every effort will be made to level load teams and ensure equitable playing time.
