ABOUT DUXBURY YOUTH SOCCER

Practice Player Policy

Regrettably, due to high demand and/or limited resources, DYSA may find ourselves in a position where we might not be able to provide a rostered game day spot for your child in the upcoming season (Fall/Spring). As a volunteer organization, our primary objective is to offer every player the opportunity for a rostered game day spot. However, we are sometimes constrained by limited roster space, field availability, and playtime policies. This situation deeply saddens us, and we sincerely regret any disappointment it may cause for players and parents.

We continually strive to accommodate as many players as possible and, therefore, stress the importance of early registration, adhering to a first-come, first-served approach.

If a game-day rostered spot is unavailable to waitlisted players, DYSA will offer a Practice Player spot for both seasons. This opportunity allows players to stay engaged, learn, and enjoy the team environment each week. Practice players will be able to attend any team practice along with any DYSA-sponsored club clinic offered during the season and all-pre-season practices before the start of the spring season.

Practice Players will be prioritized over waitlisted players. Waitlisted players who accept a Practice Player spot, attend practices, and stay engaged with the team will be prioritized over those who do not accept the Practice Player spot.

Furthermore, should there be player attrition during the season on the team with which the Practice Player has been training, DYSA may potentially move that Practice Player into a game-day roster spot based on the timestamp of their acceptance of the Practice Player offer for that team. Please note that final player placement is determined using a data-driven approach, and other variables may influence if game day roster placement is offered. DYSA will only place players onto a team where the Practice Player abilities match up to the correct level of play. It’s important for players to be able to competing at the correct level of play to ensure a fun learning environment for the player. DYSA and/or its coaches are not obligated to fill a game-day roster spot just because a spot became available. Additionally, DYSA must seek final roster approval from the CYSL to add any new players to game-day rosters, and the CYSL may decline the request, over which DYSA has no control.
